May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art - write or draw or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.
Neil Gaiman
IT'S 2017!
I'm not a real party animal (or should I better say not at all ?) so no wonder I spent the New Year's Eve and the last night of Chanukkah cozy in my humble abode, playing Cards Against Humanity (just to find out that during sex I like to think about the violation of our most basic human rights), drinking Manischewitz (peace be upon Carrefour for making it like 10 zlotys cheaper than usual) and doing some other things before having eventually ended up watching TED 2. Not bad to be honest given the fact that it's always too cold for me to go outside and pretend I'm having fun with cheap russian champagne. I also don't enjoy being told what to do and just because some people years ago decided to make the 31st of December the end of a year, doesn't mean I'm supposed to throw a party like there's no tomorrow. Besides, Rosh HaShanah, the Jewish new year was like 3 months ago and it's shofar so good and being obsessively attracted to the opposite, I hardly ever feel the need for some pretty belated afterparty. So you'd much rather see me sweatpants counting hours until Sherlock than wearing glitter all over me and socialising with people. Love me, love my dog.
I'm also not a real fan of new year's resolutions. I don't need the 1st of January to change my life and neither do you. So don't expect me to post bucket lists of things I'm gonna do in 2017 or until its midpoint or until I turn 25 in April or whatnot. The time to be better organised, to read more, to read books, to work out and get your shit together is always now, be it the very beginning of 2017 or any other moment of the year.
I'm not really good at writing sophisticated wishes, so I searched tumblr for help and came across a few lines by Neil Gaiman (quoted above). And from my side, my little existence would like to wish all the readers more time to think (maybe rethink but not overthink). Think about what good you can give to the world (and it's not about donating huge sums to humanitarian aid), think about what really matters in life, think about how amazing it is that you get educated, think about all the people surrounding you and how grateful you are to have them, think about stepping out of the comfort zone, think about letting go what no longer makes you happy, think if this is the life you want to live. Just think.
