Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.
Carol Bishop Hipps, October [in:] In a Southern Garden
October is a month of myths. Tumblr lures us with beautiful pictures of parks filled with Herbstlaub, girls wearing chunky knits and pumpkin spice latte. But reality is just not the same. I spent October fighting with rain and wind and almost lost two umbrellas. I always had a runny nose the moment I left the house and deep down I was praying for at least a few moments of sunshine. Generally speaking, October anon domino 2016 was far from my expectations. The weather outside made me spend most of the time inside in the company of books and notes but at least I managed to stay as productive as I could be (not necessarily in terms of blogging which is what I regret cause I still have some many photos from Vienna to edit #shameonme).
So far November hasn't been any better and I'm already looking forward for snowflakes and the big white all around cause everything looks brighter (at least for a while) when it's winter and I'm having my glass of mulled wine (or at least a cup of hot chocolate #ripdiet).

October was also the time of big Jewish holidays, starting with Rosh HaShanah just at the beginning of the month. Even though the days were gloomy and I had classes until strange late hours, I had the chance to spend Yom Kippur at a lecture on sixty years of EU - Isreal relations and was wished Chag Sameach. This counts as some celebration, right?
