fomo: January

A PERSVASIVE APPREHENSION THAT OTHERS MIGHT BE HAVING REWARDING EXPERIENCES FROM WHICH ONE IS ABSENT. The fear of missing out (FoMO) was the mother of invention for new series on the blog. I know many blogs have something like that and my idea wasn't any innovative. Anyway, my twitter is full of links to articles from foreign affairs to fashion to funny cats and I decided to make a selection and pick the most interesting ones and share them here. In other words, my monthly fomo is gonna be all about texts, editorials and films I found interesting or worth sharing. I'm not gonna focus myself only on fashion cause that's not the only area of my many interests. I hope this will give you some more insight into what occupies my mind when I don't play with Bobek and Rachela.

10 Apps to Help You Keep Your New Year's Resolutions

Almost every blogger announces a list of New Year's resolutions (I didn't) and since many people (according to the article up to 50%) make resolutions, Tech.Mic offers a short review of 10 apps supposed to help us stick to our new year - new me plans. My mobile got Evernote installed when I bought it but to be honest I don't use it. If I have to make a list, I do it either in my calendar or on a piece of paper. Guess, I'm still a bit old-fashioned when it comes to taking things down and prefer the blue ink of my pen to countless fonts and all the possibilities my mobile/computer/tablet give me.

The 21 Exhibitions You'll Be Talking About Next Year

I've always been into art and art albums are my guilty pleasure (and the reason behing my bankrupcy if this ever happens). But I'm a bad gallery/museum goer anyway. Mea culpa. During Lange Nacht der Museen I try to catch up with as many exhibitions as possible and of course, I do enjoy it but that's not an excuse for sitting comfortably at home just because it's windy outside.
Here, The Huffington Post gives a list of 21 exhibitions the world should be talking about in 2016. I know, they all take place in the US and I'm not telling you to grab your coats, buy a ticket and go roadtripping with pitstops in every museum but it should serve as an incentive to see what's going on in our cities and if there's any nice place to go (I recommend finding a day of free entry). As for the list, my absolute no.1 (though quite hard to pick) is Nothing Personal: Zoe Leonard, Cindy Sherman, Lorna Simpson at the Art Institute of Chicago. I guess my love for black and white photography will never ever die.

13 Books To Read Before They Become Movies In 2016

I challenged myself to watch more films and read even more book this year. That's why Romper seems like the perfect advice on what to add to my library. There are many books which become movies and many people get to know the book through the movie. Here's how to do it in the right, in my humble opinion, direction. I already have other books on my  to read in 2016 list but from this one I'd definitely go for Dan Brown's Inferno and Steinbeck's East of Eden. And then off to the cinema to see how it's all pictured through someone else's eyes.

How Do Sunni and Shia Islam Differ?

Having studied at the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, I can't quite say this is the most interesting explanation of differences between Sunni and Shia Islam. I could give you a much longer lecture or probably even conduct a whole seminar devoted to this and that would be not enough. Anyway, this is what I would call Islam for Dummies as it makes the long story short and briefly explains what Sunni and Shia Islam is all about. Go and read it to know what people talk about in the media.

Stephen Hawking Has Finally Broken His Silence On The Zayn Leaving One Direction Epidemic

If you don't know who Stephen Hawking is you either live in outer space or are the greatest ignorant ever. Anyway, this article should make you aware that he's one of the greatest scientists alive and has a sense of humour like almost no scientist I know. And if you happen to be a One Direction fan still mourning Zayn's exodus from the band, Stephen Hawking has good news for you. What kind of news? Click the link and fall im love with the wonderful world of physics!

Ottoman Archives

This is one of my favourite twitter accounts and if you follow me there, you can see I retweet almost everything they post. I'm a huge fan of the Ottoman Empire and Ottoman Archives have everything: photos, maps, pictures and documents. Giving a follow means a great source of daily inspiration and an unconventional history lesson.

MLE Collection Lookbook

Kasia Tusk and her blog Make Life Easier is one of these I may not follow but I like to have a look from time to time. Why? Mostly because of the photography and the whole concept of the blog. Not so long ago, Kasia launched her own collection and here is the first lookbook. Shot by my favourite pair of photographers: Agnieszka Kulesza and Ɓukasz Pik. Effortless, timeless and the flat is tumblr perfect. And I have this thing with interiors... .

Maren and her 2016 list

It just wouldn't be me if I haven't shared anything by my one and only Maren. I could literally share anything by her and it still would be top quality in terms of content and photography alike. I've been her devoted reader for almost 6 years and wait very imaptiently for every post. Here is her 2016 to-do list. Original and inspiring. Just like Maren.

Liel & Mike in Japan

I met Michael in August 2014 in Haifa. He came to Israel with his girlfriend, Liel. Soon they got engaged (Mazel Tov!) and from October until  December 2015 they were touring Japan. Here's their facebook fanpage where they share all the experience. If you're planning on visiting the far far East, you may find some nice tips there.

@krakowfloors

The very famous hashtag #fromwhereistand, inspired the shoefie and most probably the ihavethisthingwithfloors account on Instagram. Here we have something local: 220 photos of floors in Cracow (as for now 220 as I hope the number will only grow, grow and grow). Walking with your head up high (not necessarily in the clouds) is good but sometimes it's even better to see what's beneath your feet. Btw, does anyone know about inspiring floors in Warsaw? Hit me up, any clue welcome!

Forget shopping. Soon you'll download your new clothes.

This link (follow TED on YT and download their app asap!) is provided by My Mr Handsome.
Danit Peleg is an Israeli designer based in Tel-Aviv. Her 3D-printed design school project turned into a real collection and  she became famous all over the world. In th video she's wearing a digital skirt and there's also a model, Rebecca wearing digital shoes, which were printed at Danit's house! Isn't it just awesome?! As My Boy says, it's the future of fashion and I absolutely agree with him. Now, let's go and buy a 3D-printer! Yalla, yalla, yalla!
