focus in my lens: May '14

Get excited about the little things. About wearing a new outfit for the first time. About Sunday brunches with your best friends. About the new cute guy in your class. About finding an extra dollar in your pocket. About anything that even remotely makes you happy because as you grow up, passions fade and enthusiasm gets mistaken for foolishness. So don't let the grey world stop you from shining.

They say time flies when you're throwing watches. But I'm not throwing anything at the moment actually. Yet I got a feeling that yesterday it was December and now you're trying to tell me that it's June already?!

There's no real instamonth without foodporn. In the middle of May I was told I had to stick to the diabetes diet till the end of my days. I've been trying to eat cleanfor ages actually and I've always put a lot of attention as far as food is concerned and low glycemic index is my bestie but still you know you don't have to stick to the food regime that strictly unless told to do so. And that's what I had been doing from time to time. Cookie here, cookie there and we get the whole picture. But since my doctor told me that the diabetes diet is the only way to live fast and not die young I decided to pay even more attention to what I put in my mouth. it's really important to know what you eat and that's why I also decided that from time to time I'll write a little about clean eating here. All I can say now is that once you go clean you never ever want to come back to old and bad eating habits. And that's all we want, right?

Kiwi fruits and a lime juice are my favourite snak in between meals. Not so sweet and not so sour but super healthy!

Here's the little exception. My beloved strawberry tart. I guess it's not the end of the world if you pamper yourself once in a month. My advice is to go and look for some vegan cake shops and bakeries. Their food is as delicious as the one we can get just round the corner but can even have 40% less calories, no gluten, no cholesterol and the food is usually sweetend with stevia that is a lot more healthier than white sugar.

Because May was hot and cold, iced tea with jasmine and oranges was my favourite drink to cool myself a little.

Another nice breakfast ideas: 1. mango slices, goat's yoghurt and some goji berries juice.
2. yoghurt, almonds, kiwi fruit and pear.

Forgive me for what I have sinned. Turkish sweets. They may not be healthy but eaten once in a while they won't kill anybody. And this helva is amazing as it has no flavour so you might as well add it to your smoothie for example.

You can't base your diet only on fruits and veggies. Ok, you can but while dealing with diabetes or hyperinsulinemia it's important to eat everything. Just pay attention to the amount or foods you use for preparing meals. Here's one of my favourite snakcs: crisp'n'light bread, some turkey, momozzarella, tomatoes and some herbs.

my fragrance of the moment

One of my favourite spots in Warsaw: Vincent Cafe. Maybe their cakes don't have low GI index and such but they have yummy salads, pretty good selection of teas (green tea with strawberries is my favourite one) and they play French music all the time so you feel like being in Paris. And they also have gigantic macarons!

To make cooking and my new diet even easier I decided to buy a notebook for collecting recpies. It's divided into sections like starters, soups, main courses, something sweet and so on so it's easier to keep everything in place and find it onced needed.

uhm, well, hello, it's me!

DUBBLE

I was spoling myself on Style Slicker and suddenly found out about this cool app. To say I'm addicted would definitely be too much but I'm a real fan and like to have some fun there from time to time. The best thing about Dubble is probably the fact that you never know the final result. You don't know who you partner in the dubbling crime is and the results are always unexpected. And sometimes so nice that you start to think the dubble is even better than the original photo. Here are some of my favourite dubbles from last month.
