Music Monday #3

Eurovision Song Contest 2014 is history but there are so many nice songs that absolutely need to be shared and that's why today's Music Monday is all about the tunes that will be played till we see and hear us in Vienna next year.

I voted for them and am gutted they didn't make it to the top 10. But still, my absolute number one. Fresh and lively, I can already imagine European dancefloors getting sweaty while dancing to 'Rise Up'.

At first I was like 'whaaaaaat?!' and found it a real desecration. You know, when we hear 'French music' we think of something completely different (Edith Piat, Patricia Kaas or ZAZ). But this is a sign that French music is not only about evergreens or acoustic music, it can also make you wanna get up and dance. And the fact is that you can sing about everything in French and still sound better and more sophisticated. And my conspirational theory is that they weren't in the top 10 because this year it's all about beards.

I heard it for the first time on Hungarian TV and thought it's one of those typical ESC songs that have lyrics in English and the mother tongue. But then it got stuck in my head and it's also my mum's favourite track from this year's contest. Btw. it's always nice to hear some Slovenian and bring back the times when I was 12 and my Slovenian was good.

If you haven't seen the video from the grand final you better do it now. Emma's dress was amazing and I wish I could open my closet right now and see it hanging there. And I really like this song. There's something about it that words can't describe but it's perfect for 'vollpumpen'.

Howay the lads! One of the best songs! And the boys are great and the lead singer looks like Kevin. Kevin alone in Copenhagen. If only they were older or I was younger.......

She's really talented and definitely knows how to hit notes. I saw somewhere on twitter that she was on X-Factor (anyone?). I can already see myself performing some lyrical jazz cause this song is perfect for this.

Some Polish vibes here. And the song is so different but it gets stuck in your head after you play it a couple of times.

I was kinda sad that Portugal didn't make it to the grand final. Though at first it sounds like 'Waka Waka', it's pretty catchy and you can practice your dance moves (or at least that's what I do).

I kind of still have that feeling of disappointment I had on Saturday when I found out that all the musical instruments are pre-recorded. And that feeling was really strong while watching this performance. Hopefully the whistles weren't pre-recorded. But the song is good and my disappointment doesn't change anything and actually relates to every song with bands on stage.

Basim looks and sounds like Bruno Mars. Period.
